1. Source and Hazard of Printing Waste Gas
Printing waste gas is mainly generated in the production processes such as book printing, packaging printing and advertising printing. During the printing process, ink, diluent and cleaning agent will volatilize a large amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), accompanied by a small amount of dust particles. The main organic components include benzene, toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate and acetone.
Dust particles in printing waste gas drift in the printing workshop and adhere to printing equipment, printed products and walls. It affects the precision of printing equipment and the quality of printed products, and increases equipment wear and maintenance costs. Organic waste gas has pungent odor. Inhalation will irritate human respiratory tract and nervous system, causing headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. Long-term exposure will damage human liver, kidney and blood system. Some organic components are carcinogenic. In addition, printing waste gas will participate in the formation of photochemical smog after being discharged into the atmosphere, aggravate air pollution and damage the ecological environment. It fails to meet national environmental protection emission standards, and enterprises will face penalties from environmental protection departments without waste gas treatment.
2. Printing Waste Gas Treatment Process
According to the characteristics of printing waste gas containing dust and medium-low organic gas concentration, the treatment process is adopted as follows. The printing waste gas firstly passes through the dust pretreatment device to remove dust particles, and then enters the activated carbon adsorber to adsorb organic waste gas. The purified gas is discharged up to standard through fan. The saturated activated carbon shall be treated correspondingly.
3. Process Description of Printing Waste Gas Treatment (Activated Carbon Adsorber)
Printing waste gas firstly enters the dust pretreatment device, commonly including pulse bag dust collector and cartridge dust collector. The pulse bag dust collector intercepts dust particles on the surface of filter bags through filtration, and the dust on the filter bags is shaken off by the pulse jet cleaning system. The cartridge dust collector further removes fine dust particles in waste gas by the high-efficiency filtration performance of filter cartridges to ensure effective dust removal.
The waste gas after dust removal by pretreatment is transported to the activated carbon adsorber through pipelines. High-performance honeycomb activated carbon or granular activated carbon is adopted inside the adsorber. Its rich micropore structure and huge specific surface area can quickly adsorb VOCs molecules in waste gas. The purified gas is discharged through the exhaust pipe at the top of the adsorber and introduced into the exhaust funnel by fan for compliant discharge.
When the activated carbon reaches adsorption saturation, the system will send an alarm signal immediately. At this time, the operation of the adsorber shall be suspended, the air inlet and outlet valves shall be closed, and new activated carbon shall be replaced. The waste saturated activated carbon is recycled and treated by professional environmental protection companies to avoid secondary pollution and ensure that the whole treatment process complies with environmental protection specifications. For printing enterprises requiring continuous production, two or more activated carbon adsorbers can be configured for alternate use to ensure the continuity of printing operation.
4. Advantages of Printing Waste Gas Treatment (Activated Carbon Adsorber) Equipment
1. Thorough dust removal: The pretreatment device cooperates with the activated carbon adsorber. Dust is removed before VOCs adsorption, which effectively prevents activated carbon pores from being blocked by dust and ensures stable and durable adsorption efficiency.
2. Excellent VOCs purification effect: High-quality activated carbon has an adsorption efficiency of more than 90% for common VOCs in printing waste gas such as benzene series, esters and ketones. It can significantly eliminate pungent odor and improve air quality of printing workshop and surrounding environment.
3. Low equipment cost: Compared with combined waste gas treatment equipment, single activated carbon adsorber has low initial investment cost. It is suitable for small and medium-sized printing enterprises to reduce environmental protection costs and improve economic benefits.
4. Simple operation and maintenance: The equipment has simple structure. It is only necessary to regularly check the use state of filter materials and activated carbon. The replacement cycle is clear without long-term stationing of professional technicians, reducing enterprise labor cost.
5. Flexible installation and layout: The equipment can be customized according to the space size and layout of the printing workshop. The modular structure is convenient for later capacity expansion and transformation according to production demand, improving equipment adaptability and flexibility.
6. Safe and stable operation: There are no dangerous factors such as high temperature and high pressure in the activated carbon adsorption process. There is no potential safety hazard such as fire and explosion. The operation stability is high, providing strong guarantee for safe production of printing enterprises.
