A large amount of waste gas is generated during the spraying production process. Liquid paint forms atomized dust particles under air pressure, accompanied by the volatilization of organic hazardous substances such as benzene series. Such waste gas has high concentration, and most particle sizes are below 10μm. Direct discharge without effective treatment will cause serious environmental pollution and harm human health. 1. Spraying Line Waste Gas Treatment Process Flow Chart

Two common treatment processes are applied for spraying waste gas:
Spray paint waste gas → Water curtain cabinet → Water spray tower → Dry filter → UV photolysis equipment → Activated carbon adsorber → Centrifugal fan → Compliant discharge

In general, the spraying waste gas treatment equipment adopts a three-stage combined process: (water spray tower / cyclone tower + dry filter + UV photolysis equipment + activated carbon adsorption equipment).

2. Description of Spraying Line Waste Gas Treatment Process

The main treatment objects are atomized dust particles and volatile benzene-series organic pollutants produced during spraying operations. The specific treatment steps are as follows:

Water Curtain Cabinet Cleaning

Spraying waste gas firstly enters the water curtain cabinet. With a unique structural design, the equipment realizes sufficient contact between waste gas and water flow to clean and degrade paint mist. This process initially reduces the paint mist concentration and lowers the operating load of subsequent treatment units.

Water Spray Tower / Cyclone Tower Treatment

After preliminary cleaning, the waste gas flows into the water spray tower or cyclone tower. In the water spray tower, wet swirling plates strengthen the intense gas-liquid contact to further remove residual paint mist and dust. The cyclone tower utilizes a special cyclone structure to separate particulate matter from airflow under centrifugal force, and the separated particles are absorbed by water to achieve paint mist and dust removal.

Dry Filtration

Driven by the pressurized induced draft fan, the waste gas enters the dry paint mist filter for fine filtration. Adopting special filter materials, the equipment intercepts tiny residual particles to prevent blockage of subsequent equipment and ensure stable treatment efficiency.

UV Photolysis Treatment

In the UV photolysis equipment, volatile organic compounds undergo complex photochemical reactions under high-energy ultraviolet irradiation. The chemical bonds of organic substances are broken and degraded into low-molecular compounds such as CO₂ and H₂O. Meanwhile, high-energy ultraviolet rays irradiate oxygen in the air to generate ozone, which further decomposes into oxygen free radicals. Combined with water vapor in the air, strong oxidizing hydroxyl radicals are generated to completely oxidize organic pollutants into inorganic substances, realizing deep gas purification.

Activated Carbon Adsorption

The waste gas after photolysis treatment is delivered to the activated carbon adsorber. With abundant microporous structure and large specific surface area, activated carbon possesses excellent adsorption capacity. It further adsorbs trace residual harmful substances to optimize purification effect and guarantee compliant emission.

Compliant Discharge

Finally, the purified gas is discharged into the atmosphere through pipelines driven by a centrifugal fan, achieving standard emission and reducing environmental impact.

Ⅲ. Compliant Emission Standards for Spraying Waste Gas

The treated waste gas shall comply with the second-period emission limits specified in Emission Standard of Volatile Organic Compounds for Furniture Manufacturing Industry (DB 44/814-2010), with high-altitude discharge at a height of 15 meters above the ground. The specific indicators are as follows:
Benzene emission concentration: Less than 1mg/m³.
Toluene and xylene emission concentration: Less than 20mg/m³.
Total VOCs emission concentration: Less than 30mg/m³.
